If you haven't yet planned a viewing party for the residents at your facility, now is the time to think about how you'll celebrate football's biggest game of the year. We have a few suggestions to get you started. Decorate a common room with decorations in the colors of the teams playing in the game. This year, that's an easy task since both the New York Giants' and New England Patriots' team colors are red, white and blue! Encourage residents to wear a shirt or other accessory with their favorite football team's logo on it, even if that team isn't playing in the Super Bowl. Some people enjoy the commercials during the game more than the game itself! On a dry-erase board, write down the names of the commercials and then have residents vote for their favorite after the game ends. Consider serving classic football game food, such as hamburgers, hot dogs, brats, chili and nachos, for dinner on Super Bowl Sunday. You can also offer appetizers and snacks throughout the game or order a football-themed cake for the residents to enjoy. The Super Bowl can run long, so think of activities to keep residents engaged if the game starts to drag. You could ask them sports-related trivia questions and award correct answers with small prizes. While most Super Bowl parties have plenty of beer and liquor on hand, a healthier option is to create a "bar" complete with lots of different juices, flavored water and other uncaffeinated beverages. Consider inviting your residents' family members to join the party. The more, the merrier!   However you choose to celebrate it, enjoy the big game!
